Bloody, Bloody Remnants

As each hero awakened they were sorely confused. Their bodies did not feel right.  What were these weapons wondered Ralom, they were certainly too small.  Baru searched for Oathmaker but it was not to be seen.  Varrid couldn't determine how to swing that huge sword.  While Seglun found a crossbow strapped to her waist.

Meanwhile there were two drow, a mind flayer and three pale humans looking at them intently.  Arvien took her dagger and attacked the deathly pale woman.  The mind flayer attacked Grunyar who rolled off the table.  Drovic hid under his/her table.  This was so confusing.  Ralom, in Seglun's body ran over to Seglun to grab spell components, while Baru in Ralom's body sped to Seglun to grab Oathmaker. One of the humans bit Baru and drained some of his essence.  Varrid as Baru ran to the doors which would not open.
Then the other male cast flame from his fingertips which damaged five party members.  Even attacking to creatures was a effort as unfamiliarity with their body and weapons took a toll on the party.  Vampires, drow and a mind flayer attacking seemed way to difficult.  Then flames erupted from the five party members that were hit by the Contagious Flame spell.  Each of them had five flames erupt and attack other party members.  This was not going well as heroes started to fall.  Horror was on some characters faces as they saw their body crumple.
Chain lightning was next from that damned Spell Caster.  More of the party hit the floor as Varrid in Baru's body was left standing.  He/She was far away at the doors which would not open.  The final blows from the drow and female Vampire dropped Varrid/Baru.
The party woke up in a very small cave, barely large enough to sit up in.  There was just enough floor space for all of them to lay side by side.  At there feet, the floor dropped into water -- there was no other exit from the area.
The iar was extremely stale in the cave.  Also, the background hum that pervaded the domain was even louder down here.
Annitella was here, too.   "At last you're awake," she said.  "Time is running out for my poor Lord Drassak and we must get moving!"
The party queried her about the method that they arrived here.  She tersely stated that the Remnants had brought them here, "We must keep moving," she added.
"I'v ebeen communicating with the remnants while you were resting," Annitella stated.  "They will gladly take us to the complex because they hate the mind flayers, but they also ask a favor of you.
"We will pass through a graveyard of slaves underneath the complex -- the place where the bodies of the remnants lay.  The mind flayers throw the remains of their slaves into a watery pit when they die of exhaustion and abuse.   The lack of a proper burial traps the remnants in these waters.
"The remnants beg you to pray over their remains and perform some of your powerful magic to that their spirits may finally rest.  But, in good faith, they warn of a guardian in the graveyard; one that will try to stop you from helping them, one that will probably let you pass if you don't.  The choice is yours."
The party agreed to bless and pray for the remnants and Annitella instructed them to reach into the water and let the remnants pull them in and bestow a kiss upon them that conveys a water breathing like ability.  The party was ready to proceed and individually reached into the water.  The water grew warmer as the ghostly hands pulled you along at a great speed, and the humming that had been with them since arriving in Bluetspur was growing louder and louder, almost deafening.  Soft chunks of debris began to hit them in the face and roll along their bodies as they were pulled along.
After a half hour or so, the general upward incline of the underwater passageway sharply dropped downward.  The remnants slowed down their towing speed as they took the party toward the bottom.  There, the narrow passageway opened away from them and light found its way into the darkness.  The remnants released the heroes and hovered expectantly.  Their ghostly fingers clasped together as if pleading or praying.
The group moved cautiously ahead where the passage bottomed out and opened into a large pool.  Its walls were encrusted with sparkling crystals that reflected light from above.  Near the surface of the water, a red crystal glowed brightly at each "compass point" on the wall, illuminating the pit.
There was a red tinge in the water here, and a great deal of soft debris floated about.  Below the heroes, a great mass of bones and bodies in various stages of decomposition lay piled in a pit at the bottom of the pool -- this must be the graveyard of the slaves.
Treading water Ralom cast a bless and then began to cast consecrate.  As he began a moaning rose even through the water, as the remnants felt their chains of bondage snapping.  Countless shadows spun around like a shadowy tornado.  A thick liquid, perhaps blood, began to flow from the pile and billow upward in the water as the moaning crescendos.
The bloody water should have been dissipating in the water, but instead it took a vaguely humanoid form  --  and attacked!
The party returned attention to the blood form, while protecting Ralom, to allow him to finish the spell.  When the party was hit by an attack, they felt a blood drain in addition to the damage they took.  This had the effect of almost doubling the damage.  The heroes were able to damage the blood element but after a few round of battle the thing grappled and attempted to smother Baru.  As the party kept attacking the monster, Baru was taking more damage than the creature.  After a few additional rounds the party destroyed the bloody monster, which released the damaged Baru.
Ralom finished his consecrate, and as he did the remnants began to spin around him and then scattered outward, disappearing from view.
