The Boyar's Hall

Seglun said that the wall was easy to climb as she clambered right up to the top.  "Follow me she yelled down."
Arvien, perturbed whispered' "A little quieter, please.  We are still trying to sneak in here."

Seglun tied a rope over the top of a sharpened log that made up the wooden palisade.  There was a catwalk on the inner side that she could easily stand on but not reach the top.  The group climbed up the rope to the catwalk and then down the inner stair to the snow packed ground around the Boyar's Hall.  The Hall was a large, strong building made from huge spruce logs.  It sat upon a fieldstone foundation.  There were no windows, but there were several chimneys on the roof.  Beyond an outbuilding there were steps leading up to a small porch.  The porch had two doors one to the south and one to the east.
Seglun headed toward the eastern door while Varrid and Ralom moved up to the south door.  Seglun's door was unlocked, she stuck her head in and found a kitchen area.  Warm fire in a hearth, with a kettle of water and a bucket of something hanging over the fire.  In the far corner pallets were on the floor and sleeping noises were emanating from them.  Two doors led south at the far side of the room.  Seglun shut the door quietly.  Ralom found the other door locked or barred from the inside.  Varrid looked over the door and used her knowledge to unbar the inside, without letting the bar crash to the floor.  Ralom, followed by Baru opened the door into a hallway leading west and then south. A door was directly to the east end of the hall.
Grunyar had Dirk sniff at the door, and he reported humans in the room.  Baru and Varrid headed in the opposite direction where two doors led off the hall to the east.  At the far end the hall headed back east itself.  Creeping by the doors, they group found another door to the south as the hallway ended.  Dirk identified humans beyond the two eastern doors and the southern door.  Varrid could tell that snores were also audible beyond each door.  Ralom decided it was time to try and find his scimitar again.  The object was clearly to the south, maybe a little south west of the southern door.
Varrid opened the door to the south which led to a large chamber.  To one side, a great hearth rose to the ceiling.  Wooden pillars and thick spruce beams supported the roof over the majestic hall.  A great table ran down the center of the room, with enough benches for 30 or 40.  At the near end was a raised dais with a throne carved of oak.  Hanging over it was a banner showing a snarling wolf's head.  Before the fire were the sleeping bodies of five bearded figures covered with pelts and furs.
Varrid and Seglun sneaked to the first figure and Varrid applied a coup de grace effectively.  They countinued until all the sleeping men had been dispatched.
There were two doors on the west wall on either side of the hearth.  On the east wall were four doors and another door led north on the far side of the dais.  To the south Varrid found a wide opening covered with a curtain of caribou-skin, tightly closed.  It was cold to the touch.  Varrid peaked past the curtain to a small room lined with benches, double doors to the south, and doors east and west.  As she looked the west door opened and a burly man stepped out saying he was going on patrol.  Another voice answered him as he opened a door to the south, which let the cold wind into the antechanber.
The find object know indicated the southern door on the west wall.  Varrid opened the door and found a room with elk, bear and caribou head mounted on the walls.  Other odds and ends included a banner of a sheaf of wheat, a silver headed ceremonial spear, and a gem-studded hauberk of chainmail.  In a corner, under a pelt the heroes found their equipment in bundles.
The group took the bundles to the north door, which Varrid unlocked.  Inside the donned their armor re-sheathed their weapons and Varrid grabbed her helm of X-ray vision.  The room also had suits of chainmail, studded leather armor, spears, daggers, long swords and arrows.
With her helm Varrid entered the Great Hall and looked through the doors to the east.  These appeared to be store rooms the kegs, casks, and other foodstuffs.  Other rooms held boots and packs, rope, and tools.  Looking through the door to the east of the dais was a hallway.  To the left of the hall she saw a fire blazing in a hearth, where Gregor and Dmitri bent over a map.  There was a large four post bed and a door to the northwest.  She moved to the western side where she found a secret passage that exited from Gregor's chambers and led to the Great Hall.  The two doors in the original hallway led to chambers with beds and sleeping boyarsky.  The door from Gregor's room led to a closet with several changes of clothing, plus number of women's dresses and shawls.
The planning led to Ralom and Seglun blocking the secret door from Gregor's room.  The rest would surround the entrance.  Mikhail would open the door and Arvien would cast the Incendiary Cloud scroll into Gregor's room.
Following the plan to a T the heroes accomplished their goals.  The cloud went off without a hitch.  Seglun and Ralom blocked the secret door, but there was no attempt to open it from the far side.  The disturbance did lead to another door opening and Alexei entering the hall to attack.
Following that another door opened to the north and boyarsky piled out into the hallway.  Ralom and Seglun left the secret hall and ran into four boyarsky coming from the sleeping chambers.  The battle was going well for the heroes, but Arvien wondered what was happening in Gregor's chamber.  She opened the door slightly and found the cloud moved to the northwest of the room, but Gregor nor Dimitri were in sight.
Mikhail cut down Alexei and several of the boyarsky fell to the attacks of the adventurers.  Suddenly from the west of the dais Gregor and Dmitri sauntered into the Great Hall.  Mikhail had moved there also.  Gregor spoke with serenity, "I should have known that there was more fight in you yet.  Dimitri here thought that you had found a place to freeze to death in the forest, but I didn't believe you had died to easily."
"We'll be sure of it this time," Dmitri added, his voice hollow and sinister..
Mikhail stood forward, his sword in his hand.  "Your tyranny ends today, Gregor!"  With a cry of pure rage, he flung himself into the fight.
