While Lord Soth continued to mouth words and stare at the heroes randomly, Baru was busy trying to determine what they should attempt in the fifth mirror. "We shouldn't wait, just rush right onto the tournament field," he suggested. Ralom countered with "Maybe I can just help Lord Pal to vanquish Soth!" Grunyar just tried to remember where the dragon was and how big it was.
The group decided to cast spells as soon as they entered the mirror and run to the tournament field. There they would attack Soth and hope to kill him before the rest of the squires or Kitiara, let alone Skie, killed the heroes.
Ralom tried to get as far from the mirror as possible, he wanted as escape route from the animated Soth. He determined that he had to at least see himself in the mirror to step through, which limited the distance. The whole group stepped through into a wide grassy field, colorful pavilions in the distance with the sound of swords clashing. Arvien cast enlarge on Baru, Ralom blessed his sword and cast an enrage on Baru also.
Off to the tournament ground the party headed apace, Drovic as a field mouse, Varrid hanging back a little trying to get advantage from her allies. Grunyar headed around the pavilion to where the blue dragon was munching on a couple of bodies. Baru charged into the battle striking Soth with a critical blow. Varrid and the field mouse moved to the pavilion to stop Kitiara from casting spells. Seglun has moved around Soth to provide advantage.
On seeing the heroes enter the field, Kitiara rose an screamed for them to leave the battle area. This was giving Pal and unfair advantage. Several squires moved in to attack the heroes. Meanwhile Grunyar took a running leap onto Skie's back, who responded with a tail slap. Kitiara ran onto the field attacking Baru, calling for Skie to assist. Skie ignored her for the moment continuing her lunch. Arvien summoned the Dire Boar to attack Soth who continued the battle with Pal, who responded in kind.
Back and forth the battle raged, Baru fell to the attacks of Kitiara while Varrid and Drovic battled the blue clad female. Squires attacked each of the heroes, and the Dire Boar. Kitiara then slew Varrid and shortly thereafter Drovic. Seglun kept missing Soth every time he tried to hit. Arvien cast firelballs intended for Soth and Kitiara while Pal kept up his attacks. Grunyar used his hammer to hammer the dragon which lifted off the ground, banking to try and unload the pesky gnat attacking her. Grunyar Dragonrider held on for dear life. Ralom healed Pal, Arvien cast magic missiles while Grunyar continued to attack and receive tail slaps. Suddenly Pal laid Soth out on the tournament grass. He turned to Kitiara and claimed his prize. She laughed at his audacity, whence Skie let loose an electrical attack killing Pal and Ralom. Then all found themselves in the throne room.
The ethereal Soth paced around the Throne Room, his blackened armor making clanking sounds so faint that they could hardly be heard. The knight seemed more substantial than before, but then his pacing took him right through the throne. His sword was in his hand and he showed obvious irritation. Soth ignored the heroes as they planned their attack on the sixth mirror. "Can we even attack or harm Soth in mirror six?" mused Ralom. "We are insubstantial there, can we stop Kitiara from entering the medallion?" asked Grunyar. "Maybe I'll try and enter the medallion," he continued. So the group got started by entering the mirror.
They found themselves floating above the rooftop of a shattered temple. Around the edges of the rooftop, hundreds of vaguely humanoid spirits swirled in a ghostly dance. All were uttering agonized cries and low moans of torment. Shorty up the staircase walked a knight clad in plate mail. His eyes ranged over the spirits who swirled around as he raised a medallion over his head. "Kitiara!" he called. "show yourself. Come to me."
The heroes started to move toward Soth, Seglun trying to provide advantage. Varrid tried to attack but her sword went right through the figure of Soth. Shortly a figure started to move out of the ghostly horde toward Soth. Drovic cast a wind wall in front of her, while Grunyar attempted to enter the medallion. Arvien cast grease on the medallion but Soth held on tightly. Ralom conjured a lantern Archon close to Soth. Soth moved forward and again called for Kitiara, brandishing the medallion over his head. Just as his hand reached its peak the medallion slid out of his grasp and landed on the rooftop. The Archon flitted over and grabbed the medallion then teleported to the far edge of the temple. Kitiara tried to moved toward the medallion but was blocked by a wind wall. Arvien cast magic missiles on Kitiara and Baru attempted to attack Soth with his special sword, which sliced right through the figure without damage. Now came a game of hide and seek as the Archon teleported around the rooftop, Soth ran after the Archon and Kitiara climbed over the wall moving toward the medallion. Finally the Archon teleported past the edge of the rooftop and the heroes found themselves back in their bodies in the Throne Room.
As they regained their senses, the black knight towered above them. His body was no longer ghostly and indistinct, and his burning eyes locked on Baru's. A chilling cold emanated from his rotted flesh, turning the heroes blood to ice. His mouth opened, and in a deep voice that echoed like an empty tomb, he spoke.
"So it was you who spoiled my dreams. You had better have a good reason, or I will turn your waking hours to nightmares!"
